Research Objectives
1. Evaluate elephant contributions to carbon dynamics.
2. Compare population sensitivities to habitat changes.
3. Examine conflict patterns across land uses.
Sub-Projects (for BSc/MSc theses):
1. Distribution, density, demographics (camera traps, dung counts).
2. Feeding preferences, diet (dung DNA, observations).
3. Vegetation surveys, plant traits (transects, databases).
4. Seed dispersal, carbon value (dung processing).
5. Human-elephant conflict data (community surveys).
Skills Gained
Fieldwork, molecular techniques, surveys, R analysis, GIS, behavioral tools, scientific communication.
Duration
1.5–3 months.
Candidates
- 3rd/4th-year undergrads in ecology/wildlife (Ghanaian unis).
- Recent BSc grads (Ghanaian).
- Current MSc students (local/international).
